DETA 2000 (Doncaster Engineering Training Association) is an engineering training provider based in Balby, Doncaster.

The company was founded by the present Managing Director – Nigel Parkin in 1997. Over the last twenty years Nigel and his staff have worked hard to build their reputation as a quality provider of engineering and related training across South Yorkshire.

DETA deliver engineering apprenticeship programmes, commercial short courses, schools programme apprenticeships and support for other training providers on a sub-contracted basis.

Through the apprenticeship programmes DETA are inspected by OFSTED. They are proud to say that the inspectorate found that on a 1- 4 scale with 1 being outstanding and 4 being inadequate the engineering training and quality improvement processes at DETA were found to be a grade 2 (good).

Nigel Parkin

Nigel is a qualified structural engineer and founding director of DETA 2000 Ltd. His work experience came from employment with large national companies based in Doncaster.

In the mid 1980’s Nigel became involved in Health & Safety training and development for Case. In 1997 Case gave Nigel an opportunity to take over their training centre and DETA was founded. Ten years later he is the sole director of DETA and very proud to be known as a provider of quality engineering training within the South Yorkshire area.

Mark Lilley

Mark Lilley Mark Lilley is The Doncaster Engineering Training association Business Development and Contracts Manager.

Ken White

Ken WhiteKen White started his career as an apprentice maintenance engineer with a large manufacturing company in Doncaster, he progressed through the ranks and eventually became a production manager. A family man at heart, Ken decided that he wanted to spend more time with his family and in the early 80’s he joined the training department of Doncaster Council, he then moved to Rotherham Council before joining DETA as Centre Co-ordinator in October 2001. Ken’s current role involves supporting and assessing learners with their level 3 NVQs, ensuring all centre administration relating to the awarding body meets the required standards, internally verifying portfolios and liasing with external verifiers.

John Rockley

John RockleyBefore working for DETA 2000 John Rockley worked in the manufacturing and engineering industries in the UK and oversees where he gained experience in many different fields.

He has worked for DETA 2000 for nearly six years and his main role is to look after learners who have moved into companies and are working towards a level 3 qualification. Another role John is involved in is Equality and Diversity Training to new learners, would you believe!

He is approachable and has an outgoing personality, he has proven individual and team performance skills.

Gordon Keating

Gordon KeatingGordon Keating joined the DETA team in November 2000 after having spent most of his working life within the engineering/manufacturing sectors. In addition to holding TDLB D32/D33 and IOSH qualifications, he is a registered tutor with both I.T.S.S.A.R. and the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (C.I.E.H.).

Gordon is currently responsible for delivery of various Health and safety based courses with a particular interest in Lift truck orator training.
